a catalogue of some of my photography, pictorial references, appropriated abstract compositions, a painterly aesthetic, accidental, found paintings... macro observations of landscape, poetic beauty of ruins, detached from original context, no reference to geographic location, transitory, fragile, graceful... subtleties of detail, forensic in nature... a sense of guilt resonates, a witness to the chaotic remains of habitation... a precarious ecological balance, visions of decay and ruin... a challenge to the rose-tinted perception of country life as pastoral idyll, abandoned detritus, dormant buildings, the overlooked and neglected... erosion, parasitic rust, mould, the secret life of plants among the debris, from flood and drought, natural destruction, a post-modern archeology of decay, nature reclaims her materials, slowly matter is absorbed back into the soil... a new selection of photographs taken in early 2008, with abstract qualities, providing an internal landscape, a metaphorical language of visual traces, open to interpretation, private histories resonate in their scars, evidence of a troubled existence...
