Jazz Green : Artist Journal

July 4th, 2010

here are some photographs of the exhibition at beyond the image gallery, well, my artwork in this exhibition – shown here together with some ceramics by carol pask… (the colours seem slightly off in these photographs – perhaps it has something to do with the flint wall)…

the gallery space is in a converted ‘listed’ barn on the thornham estate. a long flint wall in the gallery hosts changing exhibitions each month, the main part of the gallery (with white partitioned walls) shows a changing display of contemporary photography.

artist hazel bignell is displaying her collaged, mixed media paintings along the other end of the long flint wall…

Your work looks really well against that busy wall, Jazz – the individual works seem to provide a suitable focus to slow things down & there’s also a pleasing correspondence between your colours & those of the stones & cement.

Here’s hoping you all enjoy some success from the exhibition.

What a wonderful space. Your work looks great against those walls. :)

    thank you for your comments

many years ago, i think about 1994-95, i did quite a few abstract paintings very loosely influenced by the colours & patterns of flint walls – there’s one of them, the most abstracted, in my archive – stoned IV – alas, i seem not to have photos of all of them (pre-digital, impoverished times!!)
