On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides, and literally be ‘in’ the painting.
Jackson Pollock, 1947

I sensed what it might be like to literally take a walk inside a Jackson Pollock painting..

sketchbook - salthouse ideas

sketches - for salthouse exhibition

I heard a short while back that I have been selected for Salthouse 09, so I have been working more on my proposed work for the exhibition; shown here are some sketchbook drawings and small-scale experiments on paper : copper leaf, charcoal, chalk, graphite, red oxide, gesso.. and salt (the theme being Salt of the Earth). It will be a series of small sequential works on wood panel.. So much to plan, make and do, and I have to make a site visit very soon.. and it would be interesting to find out more about the other artists involved in the show.
