my practice as a visual artist... a fascination with patterns of decay and erosion in the environment... intricacies of colour, fragile structures, delicate processes of gradual deterioration... often using salvaged or reclaimed materials within the processes of painting... macro photography provides initial visual references, as appropriated compositions or found paintings... tactile memories of landscapes in transition, visual distillations, or edgescapes. mixed media artworks characterised by earth colours and multi-layered, textural qualities, intricate reinventions and subtle explorations of surface, patina, sublime decay... abstract, multi-sensory, detached from their original source... metaphorical visual language of matter: symbolic renderings on perceptions of abandonment, loss, transience or impermanence.
